1. They Saved Hitler's Brain
2. The Plug
3. Summertime
4. The Creeper
5. The Man I Don't Want to Be
I'm not so sure anything really needs to be said about this 7". It seems pretty self explanatory. 1978. Boston. Hitler's Brain. Punk rock. (I mean, it's the internet and if you're really interested in more info you can just google it out of the aether.) This is seminal stuff.
I also include the B-side to an issue of just "They Saved Hitler's Brain" that Varulven put out in 1982 which is a lot harder to come by. No PS for that.
Currently at the moment I type this there's one of these up for auction on Ebay with 12 or so hours to go. When last I looked it was at $136.66. That's only $133.66 more than I paid for my copy in 1982 at some tiny record store in Virginia. I win.
(ed. it ended at $393.88. That's just silly.)
Meanwhile in Albany, NY circa 1981
1. Screaming
2. Naja Naja
You know, I really haven't found a whole lot of info on this single which is way too bad. It definitely comp worthy. The Nomads did a cover of "Screaming" at one point (which is a recommendation in itself) and it seems they just kind of stumbled upon it too. I found it in a dollar bin. It had a good date and the graphics seemed right. I win again.
It did come with an insert
You've got no bass and a driving tribal beat and a band that named themselves after ritualistic cannibals. Count me in. If you're still skeptical, they seem to have ingested some of the same records as the Cramps but without the schtick. In some ways this single reminds me of some of the stuff that would start coming out of Australia a few years later. I dunno. I have to put on some pants. I've got snow to shovel. Draw your own conclusions. It's good. Trust me.
I'm also liking this whole dual posting thing. I may keep it up. It's not like anybody's paying attention...
Thinking about Unnatural Axe made me smile, but being asked to log in/use another browser to little effect....
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what your problem is.
ReplyDeleteThe files are hosted on Mediafire. The link takes you to the page with the link where you can download them. You don't need to log in to Mediafire to grab them. (the log in is for somebody who already has a Mediafire account) It seems pretty straightforward to me. (And the other folks who've stopped by here.)
If you can't figure out how it works it's not my problem.
