Today is a Good Day to Totally Rock Out

Well actually most days are. I'll see what I can do about right effin' now, man. It's summer, baby. And we're going to rock with the windows rolled down and the warm breeze messing up our hair.

1. Tie Me Up
2. 1978
3. Just a Little Insane
4. Jumpin' on the Bandwagon
5. Cry Real Tears
6. The American Dream

It doesn't get more meat and potatoes Middle America garage/punk rock than the Gizmos. The Pride of Bloomington, Indiana and the progenitors of that tiny intrepid band of Hoosiers who had already made their own little punk rock scene long before NYC & London were pretending to have invented the idea. This little seven inches that would ably represents what would be the Gizmos (2.0) when Dale Lawrence took over the band.
There's scads of discs available of virtually every peep the various incarnations that wore the Gizmos mantle if you look. It's worth it.
On this slab. "Tie Me Up" gets my personal nod, though I do have a soft spot for "Cry Real Tears" (I can't help it my fontanelle never fully closed.) And for the record, "Just a Little Insane" seems to be the Gizmos take on the Sex Pistols "Did You No Wrong" only without the bullshit and bondage pants. (The Gizmos were so authentically punk rock they didn't need to play dress up.)
At some point I'll have to dig out and digitize the Gulcher comps. Red Snerts and Hoosier Hysteria to add to the Gizmos pile. You know you want it.

1. Where'd You Get That Cigarette
2. Everybody Wants to Survive

This is the very first Ace of Hearts single and is usually overshadowed by much of what followed on the label (I'm looking at you Mission of Burma.). It's a very rock and roll single, but the A-side manages to capture one of the greatest growling guitar sounds ever scratched onto vinyl with the needle tickling the red. It's all about tone, baby.
There's apparently a song on the other side as well. Meh, I say. This single and a couple of tracks on the famous 1976 "Live at the Rat" double lp are all that exists of the Infliktors.
