Backing things up

Another day, another morning. I'm bleary eyed. Its 5:05am on a Sunday and I've been awake already for a half an hour. But this coffee is good & I'm feeling good that I've got the spare 1Tb external hard drive out and backing up the important files (ie. the music folders). I'm not going through that hell again if I can help it and especially since I've got three times as much stuff now and a lot of time and sweat into the whole thing. Remember kids, wear a condom & back your computer files up. This has been a public service announcement.

1. Times of Change
2. Mangled Jungle

When last I bothered to look, I didn't come up with much of anything about this bit of Midwestern Nu-Wave. It was recorded in Minneapolis, if I remember correctly. I'm just not feeling like I care enough at this moment to dig in the boxes for it and check. The music is a lot better than the aesthetically challenged high school cover art would lead you to expect, but it's very much the Fresh Young Sound of 1980 (if you were fresh and young and listened to a lot of Public Image Limited).

1. (Now I Wanna Be a) Space Girl
2. Burn Those Bridges
3. Track 9
4. Wasted on You
5. Made in the Shade

A very early Twin Tone record from 1978. Their second release in fact & on red vinyl. It's worth it for the simple reason that "(Now I Wanna be a) Space Girl" is a really fucking kick ass song. A bit of the drive and spunk of 60's garage compressed into a late 70's sound and spat out with conviction. It's kind of a shame that the rest of 7" fails to live up to it. It's not bad, mind you. But I can't pretend I listen to those other songs very much. They're mostly adequate. The also have a couple of tracks on "Hits of Mid-America Volume Three". I may have to pull that out and see if they're better than I remember...

3 What the cool kids are saying:

  1. Thanks again.

Could you possibly rip "I Want a Boy with a Hi-Fi Supersonic Stereophonic Bloop Bleep" again? Skips a hell.

  2. I think the Bass player from the Fingerprints is the same guy who booked Maxwells, ran Twin-Tones Coyote label, ect... I think he also acted as a Producer for a while.

  3. Thank you very much. Fantastic.
